🐾 Scribbles here! Thanks for visiting! 4 of my furiends and I were recently killed at a no kill shelter in Tinley Park. my best friend Jeppy was a volunteer at my shelter 2 times a week. As their Pawtornery, I am here to tell you their stories, fight for them and hopefully stop the next one from happening. ~scribbles

…after this video Jeff and I were pretty much best friends… he just didn’t know that yet!. I did get a chance to be adopted once, unfortunately I had to much power for the lady that adopted me. I was sad but I know my best buddy was at paws volunteering so he could help me learn to dial down my energy. Never once did Jeff get bit by me or any other dogs at the shelter. He knew how to interact with us even on our worst days. One day I had a case of the zoomies when Jeff was walking me. When this happens the volunteers need to be ready. For some reason some dogs short circuit when trying to play on the leash. We really just want to play and we don’t know How to control our excitement. Newer volunteers might not understand us or be able to control us because me are strong. Jeff used to be a personal trainer so he can correct us and get us in the right position to calm us down.some of us dogs just have never been taught how to be a good dog. Back. To the case of the zoomies I had when on the leash….it was my only one with Jeff. He took me straight to my cage. I was sad Jeff was sad and even the other volunteers that were there on Sunday noticed I felt bad but ….Jeff after about 10 min. Came and got me to take me to the play yard. Jeff and I talked it out and it was my favorite day ever because I learned something. Jeff and I played ball for a long time. He even posted of me playing basketball. I had a sweet cross over I showed off towards the end of the video….here Is the link if you would like to see it.

this Was Margo. she lived in the same house at the shelter as I did(beginning to think that house is haunted). I dont know her very well but she and Jeff were still buddies. sorry I don’t have a better picture of her, hopefully I will get some better ones soon! From what I heard from all the barking is she was found in a hotel room with her babies. Her babies ended up beIn adopted out. She ended up in the shelter. My buddy Jeff walked her every now and then when he was done walking the advanced volunteer dogs like me. JeFF told me he only walked her a few times but she was always well behaved for him. His head of shift one Sunday mentioned Margo might have a lil food aggression because she nipped at someone feeding her. Jeff fed Margo on sundays an never experienced any food aggression at all So he didn’t think any thing of it at the time. Margo would bark a lot if put towards main aisle when in outdoor kennbut no aggression whenever being walked or going in the play yard. Margo didn’t even have an advanced volunteer tag, not even a food aggression tag. Margo in the play yard was more of a I wanna sit in your lap and pet me dog. She just loved being pet. She had the prettiest coloring. Jeff did notice when in the play yard she really enjoyed it, so he tried to get her out there often on his shifts.
my buddy Jeff wasabout to go visit his parents but before he did he made margos day by taking her out at the end of the shift because she behaved well in the outside cages. Jeff and margo just sat in the play yard and wanted some pets.… so much so she ended up just sitting in his lap. It was only 10 min or so but Jeff new he would see her in a couple weeks……
so he thought…..
while on vacation he saw there was a dog with parvo… next he saw rip Margo. turns out she didn’t die from Parvo. It was a separate incident… broke jeffs heart either way….( will be back to write more soon ~scribbles
Tequillllllllllllla here! Scribbles asked me to right my own story. Not much of a story teller but I will give it my best. I met Jeff from afar at my fosters house one day while he was helping take out a couch that was outdated ( by no means did us dogs destroy a couch... what fun would that be right? ).........
Yeah so us dogs tore it

Yeah so us dogs tore it to pieces it was fun bark bark !!!
I had a skin condition iwas getting help with by my foster.....she was the bestest....
Next time Jeff met me it was at the shelter and tensions were high.... didn't no what was going on and neither did jefffffffffff fa fa.... the head of shift let Jeff know he was going to be taking care of me... I was so excited I got someone who spoke dog ....
I'm a slow moving type of dog.... I really liked going at my own pace. I think alit of volunteers get caught up in the speed of things when at the shelter... even Jeff had to take a step back sometimes and reset.... there is a ton going on when volunteers show up to help..... tbc- teq
coming soon. Still in shock I didn’t know about this one :(

Jeff has had 3 Huskies in his lifetime, knows how great of a dog they are and how Mckinley was no different.

The first time I saw Jeff... he was a new volunteer. He sidnt walk me right away becauze he was still learning how to handle us properly, the head of shift was really good with teaching how to handle the dogs properly.
. Unfortunately one time I bit a volunteer. Jeff was right next to me when it took place. The volunteer didn't drop the lead and let it go .... instead it was a tug of war. In this instance dropping the lead is the best option. While the tug of war was happening I mistaked the volunteers finger for a treat. Again in this instance the volunteer should of had treat flat in his hand and not playing tug of war on. Also giving a treat when not behaving is always a last resort ...Sometimes we all make mistakes and in this instance the volunteer knew he was the one at fault and the dogwas gonna get the write up... this volunteer was the first one Jeff saw leave because of the process the organization took .....
When Jeff did get a few chances to walk me he knew I liked to have a ball to play with, even if playing meant not wanting to give it back for a long time. Jeff heard on a TV show for pits a lady say. The shelter is like a prison. You either get used to it or you don't... unfortunately I didn't understand the shelter life. I lost half of my tongue before I got to the shelter.... and I was a pit. Nothing was going right for me at this shelter. I really wish they took the time to see where I could have went to live a slower less noisey life.... unfortunately they used the written reports against me even when it wasn't my fault. My friend Jeff said th cards were stscked up against me and then he noticed I was gone. TBC
