EJ is currently at Famous Fido Rescue in Chicago, Illinois.
We saved EJ from the euthanasia table.
Those words still don’t feel real...
EJ was only a year old when the vet called us and said his family had brought him in to be put to sleep because he didn’t get along with their new dog. A young, healthy, beautiful life that scheduled to end over something that should have been worked through, not given up on. Can you imagine if every family chose to give up on a child after a fight with a sibling? It’s unthinkable.
And yet this is what animals face every single day. That’s why we said yes. That’s why we stepped in.
At the time, we didn’t even have physical space to bring EJ into our building. But we refused to let that be the end of his story. We coordinated with the vet to board him there until we could make room, and the moment we could, we brought him home to Famous Fido Rescue. Our commitment to EJ has never wavered.
Now we need someone to step forward for him.
EJ may not be a fit for a home with other dogs, and that’s okay. What matters is finding the right home. A home where the space is open just for him. A home where he is cherished, protected, and never again made to feel disposable.
He is a big, precious boy with a huge heart. He deserves love. He deserves safety. He deserves stability. He deserves a family who will see the value of his life and hold onto him through every chapter.
If you are interested in meeting EJ, please apply to adopt on our website: https://famousfidorescue.org/dog-adoption-application.
If you’re not in a position to adopt but want to help, donations are deeply needed to support his care while he waits for his forever home: https://famousfidorescue.org/donate
EJ’s heart has not yet been sponsored on our Tree of Hearts. If you’d like to sponsor his heart and show him he is loved, you can do so here:

Please share EJ’s story. Help us find the family who will never give up on him.

Luna is available through Naws in Mokena, IL.
Luna is a four-year-old Husky with the most striking blue eyes and a heart that belongs entirely to people. She was adopted from us years ago and recently returned through no fault of her own—she simply prefers not to share her space with other dogs.
What Luna does love? People, people, and more people.
She is incredibly affectionate, thrives on attention, and is wonderful with kids. At around 50 pounds, she’s the perfect size for adventures, couch cuddles, and everything in between.
Luna would do best as the only pet in the home—no dogs or cats—so she can soak up all the love and attention she truly deserves. If you’re looking for a loyal, people-loving companion who will adore you endlessly, Luna just might be your girl.
Four years old
About 50 lbs
Great with kids
Loves people
Only pet home
Luna is ready to be someone’s whole world. Could that be you?

Kaleb is located at APL out of Anderson, Indiana.
🆘Kaleb is struggling and his time is limited.🆘
Wait time: 145 days, 3,485 hours, 39 minutes ⏰
He’s merely existing and it breaks our hearts because he is a young, joyous, active boy who gladly accepted the challenge of being the playful big brother to several of our puppies!
Please see this beautiful boy whose whole life should be ahead of him and give him his chance.
Kaleb is friendly, social, affectionate—loves butt scratches!
He also loves snacks and is an easy candidate for training-eager to accept baby talk, praise, and your approval!
Kaleb
4 years old
48 lbs
HW+requires treatment
Dogs-does well with proper introductions
Cats-curious
Kaleb has been hanging on since Christmas Eve. The fact that he has held on this long in an over-crowded city shelter with minimal resources speaks to his resilience.
But, he badly wants out—so it becomes increasingly more challenging to get him in and out of his space.
This is not because he is a bad dog.
It’s because he has been caged for 23.5 hours/day for 145 days==3,485 hours and 39 minutes.
Every minute counts for Kaleb-he does not have many left🆘

DIVA and Ella can be helped through Traveling Tails Dog Rescue
Please, Please, Please Share these girls! 🙏
Diva and Ella say STILL need a home! On June 4th it was a year that they have been without a forever home 😭
Diva and Ella from Afghanistan were returned back to the rescue a few weeks ago. After months of looking for a match for either one or both of the girls, they are back with us in foster.
Please help us find them a home either together or sadly separately at this point.
Both girls are 3 years old, around 38 pounds, potty trained and good with other dogs. We are requiring a fenced yard and a doggie friend for them if they get fostered or adopted separately. Ella is good with kids and Diva is shy around new people and would do better with older kids. No cats! These two girls have been through so much together and it’s absolutely heartbreaking. 💔
They are the sweetest girls. They were rescued in Afghanistan with their mom who had two broken legs. They have survived so much and they deserve a forever, loving home 🙏
Diva and Ella are currently in VA, but can be transported to an approved foster or adopter. Please tag and share or apply to foster or adopt at www.ttdr.org Thank you 🙏

🐾🐾 Scribbles Scratch 📝 "it hits a little different when I see a post from a volunteer pleading for a dog to foster or adopt. Even more so since I know Kirby personally. Let's get this guy out of the shelter life.
Kirby is currently at Naws In Mokena IL.
This is what the lady wrote about him :
"I’ve posted about Kirby before.. and I’ll continue to do so....
Until his very own humans are found.. until he has his very own home filled with love and patience.
He deserves this and more.
Please help me spread the word about this beautiful boy whose current home is at Naws in Mokena. ❤️🐾"
365 Days.... 😔
The amount of time our sweet, loving and deserving Kirby has been waiting for his forever family to come. Why he's been waiting so long? We couldn't tell you. It confuses us just as much as it breaks our hearts.
This adorable boy is a 2 year old house hippo (Pittie) mix. Kirby is a certified kissing machine, ladies man, and GOOD boy. Anyone who has had the opportunity to meet our sweet Kirby knows he can't help but cover you in kisses. Some of his favorite activities are going on walks, basking in the sun, and playing with his toys. He is an active, curious and incredibly loving boy. Kirby can be a bit timid, but after a treat or two, he is covering you in kisses. He does well with children and loves everyone he meets. We say he is a ladies man, because he prefers female dogs who are close to his size. Kirby would prefer a home with no kitties. Kirby promises to give you all the love, and fill your home with so much joy. Please consider opening your home to a pup who has been waiting far too long, you will not regret it!
💙Kirby would greatly benefit from a foster home while we wait for his forever home to come. If you are interested in fostering, please email Victoria at Victoria@nawsus.org.💙
If you would like to meet Kirby, please submit an Adoption Application at the link below⬇️ or contact Dogadoption@nawsus.org to get in touch with our team.

Hugo is currently at APL out of Anderson Indiana.
Hugo-URGENT 🆘
*found wandering in between a pizza shop and a spa, picked up by animal control on 9/11*
2 years old
45 lbs
HW-
Hugo’s name describes him best—The name Hugo comes from the Old German word hug, meaning "heart," "mind," or "spirit". Translation—we have a smart, strong, hugger of a dog ready for his new life. Who doesn’t want his attributes at their table?!
Hugo is a very friendly boy and loves people—prefers them actually. His previous life was not a kind one and the wounds on his body tell that story (likely from dog fighting). Regardless, he was loose and wiggly for his intake exam and proves to be nothing but adorable and very affectionate for his walkers and staff—belly rubs are a must! Intelligent, this boy is and he shows it as he aptly sits, shakes, and stays down when you ask! Hugo is ready to leave the kennel chaos in exchange for a headrest on your lap (while watching documentaries or philosophical commentary of course).
Dogs-nope,not for him
Cats-too scary, no thanks
Hugo is listed as urgent because he is reactive to dogs when going in and out of the kennels. He has what appears to be multiple bite wounds on his body in various stages of healing (currently being treated). He is unhappy in the crowded, noisy kennel and needs out!

Glacier is currently available through Naws in Mokena Illinois.
Glacier is a 2-year-old pit mix whose past tells a story no dog should ever have to live. He was found emaciated, frightened, with pressure sores -the kind that don’t happen overnight, the kind that come from sitting in a crate for far too long, forgotten by the world.
We don’t know what Glacier endured before he came to us. We don’t know how many days passed without kindness, comfort, or love. What we do know is that despite everything, Glacier is still here. Still trying. Still hoping. Because of what he’s been through, Glacier can be unsure at first, and who could blame him? Trust doesn’t come easily when it’s been broken so deeply. Right now, we feel he would be most comfortable as the only pet, where he can finally exhale and learn what it means to be someone’s whole world.
We know the reality. Dogs like Glacier are often overlooked. Passed by. Made to wait longer than most. And waiting is the hardest part for him each day without a home makes it easier for him to shut down a little more. Glacier needs a hero. Someone willing to stand up for him, to choose him, to show him that his life can be more than what it once was. Glacier is ready to be loved. Please don’t make him wait any longer.
Interested in fostering Glacier? Help us save his life and another by doing so.
