Indiana Doggies

Kaleb

Kaleb

Kaleb is located at APL out of Anderson, Indiana.

🆘Kaleb is struggling and his time is limited.🆘

Wait time: 145 days, 3,485 hours, 39 minutes ⏰

He’s merely existing and it breaks our hearts because he is a young, joyous, active boy who gladly accepted the challenge of being the playful big brother to several of our puppies!

Please see this beautiful boy whose whole life should be ahead of him and give him his chance.

Kaleb is friendly, social, affectionate—loves butt scratches!

He also loves snacks and is an easy candidate for training-eager to accept baby talk, praise, and your approval!

Kaleb

4 years old

48 lbs

HW+requires treatment

Dogs-does well with proper introductions

Cats-curious

Kaleb has been hanging on since Christmas Eve. The fact that he has held on this long in an over-crowded city shelter with minimal resources speaks to his resilience.

But, he badly wants out—so it becomes increasingly more challenging to get him in and out of his space.

This is not because he is a bad dog.

It’s because he has been caged for 23.5 hours/day for 145 days==3,485 hours and 39 minutes.

Every minute counts for Kaleb-he does not have many left🆘

Available for adoption/foster/rescue

Hugo

Kaleb

Hugo is currently at APL out of Anderson Indiana.

Hugo-URGENT 🆘

*found wandering in between a pizza shop and a spa, picked up by animal control on 9/11*

2 years old-45 lbs-HW-

Hugo’s name describes him best—The name Hugo comes from the Old German word hug, meaning "heart," "mind," or "spirit". Translation—we have a smart, strong, hugger of a dog ready for his new life. Who doesn’t want his attributes at their table?!

Hugo is a very friendly boy and loves people—prefers them actually. His previous life was not a kind one and the wounds on his body tell that story (likely from dog fighting). Regardless, he was loose and wiggly for his intake exam and proves to be nothing but adorable and very affectionate for his walkers and staff—belly rubs are a must! Intelligent, this boy is and he shows it as he aptly sits, shakes, and stays down when you ask! Hugo is ready to leave the kennel chaos in exchange for a headrest on your lap (while watching documentaries or philosophical commentary of course).

Dogs-nope,not for him

Cats-too scary, no thanks

Hugo is listed as urgent because he is reactive to dogs when going in and out of the kennels. He has what appears to be multiple bite wounds on his body in various stages of healing (currently being treated). He is unhappy in the crowded, noisy kennel and needs out!

Rainbow

Rainbow  is currently at APL in Anderson Indiana

Rainbow-URGENT 🆘

*Arrived as a very pregnant stray on 2/17/24. Spent 1 1/2 years in foster where she safely delivered & nursed her puppies. Returned to the shelter on 8/11/25 through no fault of her own.

5 1/2 years old

Female

53lbs

HW(-)

Rainbow’s life has been anything but a rainbow. She wound up being a mom at 3 years old, delivered & nursed her puppies & watched them get adopted one by one while she waited for her turn. And her turn never came. So she waited some more, trying to be big & brave for the world, but deep inside she’s always been a little unsure of new things. When she found herself back at the shelter, it quickly became overwhelming for her.

We’re hoping things turn around for Rainbow. She is a great walking buddy, knows basic commands, and food is the way to her heart! Give her a puzzle feeder & she’s a happy camper…she gets to work her brain AND her belly!!! Based on Rainbow’s personality, we think she’d be happiest in a calm home being a couch snuggler!

Dogs-nervous meeting dogs, slow introductions would be best

Cats-no thanks

Kids-older kids would be best due to her being timid

Rainbow is urgent due to her constant barking to get out of her kennel, her high level of stress, and being anxious in her kennel.

Rainbow is available for foster, adoption, or rescue through Rhe The Animal Protection League Inc., Indiana. www.inapl.org
